Best Rest Stops In Connecticut

Best Rest Stops In Connecticut

As one of the smaller states, Connecticut has fewer rest stops and is often less frequently traveled than some larger surrounding states. However, if you are driving through Connecticut and need a safe place to stop and rest during your road trip or long haul, there are a handful of rest areas available to you. As a matter of fact, there are rest areas available in every county throughout Connecticut. If you have plans to pass through Connecticut on your trip, we recommend taking a scroll through this guide, which highlights a few of the best rest stops in Connecticut.

Darien I-95 Service Plazas

There are rest stops on both the northbound and southbound sides of I-95 in Darien, CT. These service plazas have everything you need to recharge your semi truck or RV and recharge yourself. There are both fuel pumps and electric charging stations, as well free Wi-Fi, outdoor seating areas, pet walking areas and a number of fast-food options. I-95 is a major interstate in Connecticut, so the rest stops tend to be larger and more accommodating for truck drivers. Both plazas in Darien have dedicated truck parking and are better suited for overnight parking or longer-term rests, being that they are open 24/7.

Milford I-95 Service Plazas

Like the rest plazas in Darien, the Milford rest plazas also serve I-95 travelers on both the northbound and southbound sides. These plazas serve drivers traveling through New Haven County. Both service plazas have dedicated truck parking, making them a convenient rest stop for long term or overnight parking. They have several food options, Mobil gasoline, electric car charging stations, Wi-Fi, and outdoor pet areas. These service plazas are also open 24/7.

Fairfield Rt-15 Service Plazas

The Fairfield service plazas are conveniently located right on the Merritt Parkway (Route 15) on both northbound and southbound sides. These plazas serve drivers travelling through Fairfield County, CT. Because Rt-15 is not a major interstate, the rest areas are smaller and less accommodating to truck drivers. These smaller service plazas are better suited for a quick restroom or snack break. Though they are smaller than the before mentioned plazas, they do offer Mobil gasoline, a small outdoor area, a few food options and are open 24/7.

North Haven Rt-15 Service Plazas

The North Haven service plazas are also conveniently located right on the Merritt Parkway (Route 15) on both northbound and southbound sides. These plazas serve drivers travelling through New Haven County. Just like the Fairfield plazas, the North Haven plazas are smaller but are a great option for a quick stop if needed. These plazas also have Mobil gasoline as well as small outdoor rest areas, few food options, and are open 24/7.

Plainfield I-395 Service Plazas

The Plainfield service plazas are located on I-395 on both northbound and southbound sides. These plazas serve drivers travelling through Windham County. While the Plainfield rest stops are on the smaller side, they do have dedicated truck parking for an overnight or long term parking spot. Other accommodations include fuel pumps, outdoor areas for pets, and accessibility 24/7.

Montville I-395 Service Plaza

Other than Plainfield, Montville is one of the only other significant service stops for those travelling through Connecticut on I-395. The Montville I-395 rest area is a westbound only plaza that serves drivers travelling through New London County. With designated truck parking, free Wi-Fi, clean restrooms and a number of food options, the Montville stop is a good option for long term or overnight parking for truck drivers.

I-84 Rest Area and Information Center

Located in Willington, CT, the I-84 rest area has stops located on both the eastbound and westbound sides of I-84. These rest areas serve drivers traveling through Tolland County. While I-84 is a major interstate in Connecticut, the Willington I-84 Rest Area and Information Center is on the smaller side, especially when compared to some of the I-95 rest areas. These rest areas offer small outdoor areas for pets, clean restrooms, and vending machines inside. Unlike other rest stops in CT, this service area does not have gasoline, and is better for a quick, clean bathroom or stretch break for visitors.
